ANISE STAR: Uses & Effectiveness
Anise Star may help with: Respiratory Tract Infections and Congestion, Lung Swelling (Inflammation), Cough, Bronchitis, the Flu (Influenza), Swine Flu, and Bird Flu. They also use it for Digestive Tract Problems including Upset Stomach, Gas (Flatulence), Loss of Appetite, and Colic in babies. Some women use Anise Star for increasing the flow of Breast Milk, promoting Menstruation & easing Menstrual Disorders, easing Childbirth, Antimicrobial and Antifungal, Insecticidal, Antiseptic and Carminative, It is used for Rheumatism, Indigestion /Cramping, and Colds. Within the essential oils of Anise, camphor, and fennel is a substance called Anethole. According to an article in the journal Nature, Anethole has the effect of blocking "early and late cellular responses transduced by tumor necrosis factor”, which means it may help stop the spread of cancer. Anethole was also found to have an anti-inflammatory effect. The flavor and smell of anethole is commonly referred to as licorice. 13 times sweeter than sugar, Anethole can be used as a sugar substitute. It also has powerful anti-microbial properties, attacking bacteria, yeast, and fungi. It has been found to be effective against insects.
